Tiered skirt - Boho skirt STEFFI

Summer is just around the corner and with it the question of all questions: What should I wear at 40°C and still look pretty?

It has to be airy, comfortable to wear, easy to combine and, above all, make a fashion statement.

A tiered skirt, for example, is the epitome of summer. It looks light, playful and, despite its length, offers cooling and protection from the sun. Perfect for quick, uncomplicated outfits and so easy to sew!

We recommend light and flowing fabrics for this skirt. Muslin or fine viscose jerseys are a good choice for this cut

Calculation of cut parts

The skirt consists of 3 tiers. The first tier is about 20 cm high (with elastic) and the length corresponds to the hip circumference plus 10 cm.

The second step is around 40 % longer than the first and 35 cm high.

The third step is also about 40 % longer than the second and 45 cm high. Elastic band: 4 cm

A - Hip circumference + 10 cm

Height: 20 cm

B - 40% * A

Height - 35 cm

C - 40% * C

Height - 45 cm

Tip: Multiply these values by 1.4

Tip: As the fabrics have a certain width (usually 1.45 m), you can sew the individual steps from 2 pieces of fabric of the same length.

Don't forget the seam allowances!

The skirt is sewn without a pattern, but with specific measurements and proportions to ensure a perfect fit.

The length of the finished skirt is 100 cm.

Sewing instructions

SEW TIERED SKIRT
Material consumption: fabric 2m, elastic band 4 cm wide

Sewing: Ruffle pattern piece B and sew to the long fabric edge of pattern piece A.

Please note: The differences in length between the individual steps are not great. You can make the small pleats directly on the machine using a long, thick needle.

Gather in pattern piece C and sew to pattern piece C.

Sew the side seam.

Section A: Fold over 5 cm, topstitch, insert elastic band, close turning opening.

Hem the skirt. Done!
