Waffle knit is a very easy to work with material, with which even sewing beginners usually achieve good results. Since fabrics with natural fiber content can shrink, you should wash waffle jersey after purchase or before processing.
To avoid damaging the fabric during sewing, it is recommended to use a stretch or jersey needle (70 or 80 gauge). Sewing with an elastic seam (elastic stitch or narrow zigzag stitch) prevents the seams from tearing later. Alternatively, you can use an overlock sewing machine.
It is important to take into account the elasticity of the fabric in the transverse direction when laying out the pattern pieces. To prevent shoulder seams from wearing out, it is advisable to reinforce them with a tape. For stressed areas such as buttonholes and pockets, it is recommended to reinforce them with a fine adhesive layer. Do you do without Cuff, it is also important to neaten the edges.
